[Meta's USD Bonds Attract Up to $58 Billion in Subscriptions, But Financing Costs Rise Significantly from April] According to Jinse Finance, on November 4th, sources revealed that Meta Platforms' (META.O) USD bond issuance attracted up to $58 billion in subscription orders, approximately four times the minimum issuance size of $15 billion. The overall cross-border financing is expected to be at least $20 billion, and the company plans to issue its first Eurobond as early as Wednesday. Despite strong demand, Meta still needs to offer higher yields to attract investors. Its 2056-maturity bonds have a yield premium of approximately 2.2 percentage points over US Treasury bonds, about 0.9 percentage points higher than similar bonds in April of this year. Expanding AI investment is pushing up financing costs for tech giants, with yield premiums on large tech company bonds reaching their highest level since 2003, and credit default protection costs for some companies nearing historical highs. Analysts predict that related companies will invest $4.5 trillion in AI over the next three years, with Meta accounting for over $740 billion. Meta also raised $37.5 billion through the issuance of common and preferred stock and plans to issue up to $60 billion more in new shares; S&P has downgraded its rating outlook to negative due to pressure from AI spending.
