UPDATE: 🇨🇳 China lines up $15 BILLION in market support after a $480 BILLION tech stock wipeout. China’s broader stock market has fallen for 12 straight weeks. Now, Beijing is making it EASIER for companies to buy back their own shares to support prices, per Xinhua. Companies will no longer have to wait six months after listing to make these price-support purchases. Recently, listed firms must also follow through on promises to support their shares when required. The push comes after steep LOSSES: 🔻Robot maker Unitree −50% since its August listing. 🔻Memory chipmaker CXMT −25%+ in a month. 🔻Tech-heavy STAR 50 −4% today, following a roughly 40% slide through late October that erased $480B. Meanwhile, 31 investment firms have requested more than 100 BILLION yuan ($15 BILLION) through a central bank funding programme planned for November 4, per Bloomberg. Another 200 BILLION yuan in bank lending to two state-run asset managers is being discussed. Beijing wants to bring BUYERS back. But the challenge is rebuilding confidence as economic growth slows and investors question whether AI companies can deliver the profits expected. The SAME AI trade question Wall Street faces.
