[Cboe Joins Lawsuit Challenging CFTC Approval of Perpetual Stock Derivatives] According to a Cboe announcement on November 4th, Cboe has joined a lawsuit initiated by the Capital Markets Alliance (CMA) to challenge the Commodity Futures Trading Commission's (CFTC) approval of perpetual derivatives for U.S. stocks and ETFs, and is seeking injunctive relief. CMA members include Cboe, Citadel Securities, and the Healthy Markets Association. Cboe CEO Craig Donohue believes that securities-related products should be traded on registered securities platforms and subject to investor protection and regulatory constraints under U.S. securities laws. Previously, the CFTC announced that perpetual futures for individual stocks could be traded on eligible U.S. exchanges.
