UPDATE: In 5 days, we've raised $1,468.23 to crowdfund this Bitcoin ad right into the NY Times. That’s 73% of the $2,000 first target to get it into a well respected magazine, 2.1% of the $70,000 NY Times target. And ... more donations came through Nostr than Twitter!! (Even though I have a fraction of the following here). So, it's working! If you are thinking "what is this all about?" - read the surprising backstory below. If you'd like to give, you can do so here. Bitcoin 👇 https://geyser.fund/project/bitcoinesg Fiat 👇 https://donorbox.org/lets-get-this-bitcoin-ad-in-the-ny-times Keep giving, keep sharing. The Backstory: A while ago, I was unexpectedly contacted by one of the world’s top advertising creatives (who is also a bitcoiner). He shared his #1 adoption concern: Retail’s lack of interest in Bitcoin. "They think they know what Bitcoin is, and based on that, they're not interested" What he said next left me both speechless and inspired “I’m in a unique position of caring deeply about bitcoin and working with advertising at the highest international level. “If we want retail to give Bitcoin a second look, we need to hook them with something unexpected. The carbon-negative story is it. It's surprising, hope-inspiring and no other single sentence about Bitcoin has the same punch” He proposed that we go into the dragons den with a full page ad in the New York Times. The ad could create enough of a stir to get this message on some large podcasts and other media outside of Bitcoin (ie: where our message needs to go) So he orange-pilled a colleague, and they made this ad for us, without charge. Imagine opening the NYT and seeing this ! The NYT print edition has 570,000 subscribers, many of which are very influential So the ad can make a real difference for how Bitcoin is perceived. A version of this ad has already run on Instagram, where it outperformed every other post on that account How do we funds this ad? Same way we defeated GreenpeaceUSA: by working together Let's crowd-funding this thing into history Raise $70,000 = see this ad in the NYT Raise $2K = see small but influential magazine like the Royal Geographical Society’s magazine And there are plenty of great options in between Let's do this!
