⚡️UPDATE: $6.3 BILLION Binance hack began with a FAKE job interview.
An engineer downloaded a coding assignment containing malware onto his work computer after attackers posed as recruiters, per CoinDesk.
- Attackers later used an internal AI tool to reach two wallet engineers’ computers.
- Stolen credentials let them run a malicious script on October 29.
- They exploited Ethereum’s EIP-7702 feature to gain control over a hot wallet. Containment took about four hours.
Binance says $2.85 BILLION has been frozen and 98% of affected tokens replenished with company funds. Users will not bear the losses.
The FBI attributed the attack to North Korea.
