[South Korean Financial Authorities Plan to Raise Cold Wallet Custody Requirements for Exchanges to 99%] According to South Korean news outlet News1, industry sources indicate that the Financial Services Commission (FSC) held an emergency security inspection meeting on November 2nd with major cryptocurrency exchanges and custody institutions. Taking the Binance hack as an opportunity, the meeting discussed raising the cold wallet custody ratio for exchanges. The current proposed solution is to increase this ratio from the existing 80% or higher stipulated in the Virtual Asset User Protection Act to around 99%, a level maintained by some major exchanges. It is understood that Upbit's cold wallet custody ratio for user assets exceeds 99%, Bithumb is around 94%, Coinone is 85%, and exchanges like GOPAX are slightly above 80%.
