[Goldman Sachs: Global Data Center Capacity May Reach 273GW by 2030, with Five-Year Investment Needs of Approximately $8.5 Trillion] According to DeepFlow TechFlow, on November 3rd, Goldman Sachs released a research report, raising its 2030 global data center capacity forecast from 217GW to 273GW, a significant increase from approximately 103GW in 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate of approximately 21%. The bank expects approximately 170GW of new data center capacity to be added globally over the next five years. Based on the empirical assumption of an investment of $50 billion per GW, this corresponds to a potential capital expenditure of approximately $8.5 trillion.
Goldman Sachs also raised its 2030 US data center capacity forecast from 125GW to 152GW, projecting a cumulative increase of 103GW after 2025, accounting for approximately 60% of the global increase during the same period. Goldman Sachs believes that the rapid expansion of new cloud service providers such as Neocloud to meet GPU demand is also a significant reason for the upward revision of the US capacity forecast.
