[Institution: Fed Should Focus More on Core Inflation] BlockBeats reported on November 3 that Jay Hatfield, CEO and portfolio manager of Infrastructure Capital Advisors, stated that the Federal Reserve should stop its "irrational interest rate hikes" and that monetary policy should focus on core inflation, rather than oil-price-driven inflation. Hatfield stated that the Fed should recognize that its policies primarily affect interest rate-sensitive sectors of the economy, primarily the housing market. He urged the Fed to fundamentally reform its forecasting models, its arbitrarily set 2% inflation target, and its "seriously flawed inflation gauge." Furthermore, he mentioned that Infrastructure Capital Advisors is closely monitoring the research findings of the relevant Fed working group, hoping these findings will address some of the aforementioned fundamental flaws.
