Oracle is truly past its prime! ORCL
Recently, its stock price has plummeted, forcing it to sell shares at an 11% discount to raise $10 billion, followed by a massive $10 billion issuance of high-yield bonds. A single move drained $20 billion!
Checking the bond interest rates today, they've soared to 7%~8.65%. Given current borrowing costs, it seems like they're desperate for funds.
Back in the day, Oracle dominated the global enterprise database market, effortlessly collecting taxes for decades! But in the era of cloud computing and AI, Amazon, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud have long since captured the majority of cloud services, while Oracle's belated cloud platform, OCI, has remained lukewarm.
Finally, the AI boom has arrived, with Microsoft embracing OpenAI, Google having Gemini, and a host of giants vying for investment in Anthropic. Oracle found itself unable to even secure a ticket to the large-scale model, and was forced to settle for second best, becoming a computing power plumber, integrating cloud computing infrastructure and the database ecosystem!
The market is ruthless, repeatedly proving the saying: when the times abandon you, they won't even say goodbye; and when you try to force your way on board, the ticket is already astronomically expensive!
