The most alarming change:
Hackers are no longer limited to finding smart contract vulnerabilities. Exchange back-end systems, hot wallets, private key management, cross-chain bridges, hardware wallet supply chains, DevOps devices, multi-signature authorization—the entire crypto infrastructure is becoming a target.
In the Binance incident, hackers transferred funds through approximately 12,000 wallets, 11 blockchains, and over 40,000 transactions in less than four days, averaging a new wallet appearing every 25 seconds.
AI is further reducing the time cost of cyberattacks. Google has disclosed automated credential theft operations completed in less than six hours, and Anthropic has also discovered intrusion operations completed by attackers using AI in two to three hours.
The scale of funds in the crypto industry is growing larger, and the level of automation among attackers is increasing, but the industry's security measures are far from keeping pace with the growth of assets.
