[NEAR Governance Vote Approved to Reduce Maximum Annual Issuance Rate to 1.6% Over 24 Months] NEAR Protocol announced on the X platform that its on-chain governance body, House of Stake, has voted to reduce NEAR's maximum annual issuance rate from 2.5% to 1.6%, to be implemented in phases over 24 months. NEAR stated that token holders decided on the core parameters through a public vote, and the new rate will be rolled out epoch-by-epoch according to the published schedule. This means a lower long-term issuance and a supply plan that can be verified by anyone. The subsequent process includes: the House of Stake security committee reviewing the results before approval; a grace period of approximately 90 days after approval; validators adopting the change and making it binding through protocol upgrades; token issuance then gradually decreasing each epoch, reaching 1.6% in the 24th month; and quarterly reports tracking whether the actual issuance is consistent with the plan.
