[Swan Bitcoin Founder Says AI Poses a More Direct Security Threat to Bitcoin]
Odaily reports that Swan Bitcoin founder Cory Klippsten stated that AI poses a more direct and immediate threat to Bitcoin security than quantum computing. He pointed out that hackers are using large language models to probe for security vulnerabilities, and even small hints can help attackers discover problems.
Klippsten believes that quantum computers capable of threatening Bitcoin's cryptography are at least a decade away, at which point the network can deploy quantum-resistant protections. He stated that rushing to implement such solutions now would add unnecessary complexity.
Brazilian cryptocurrency exchange Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday due to a security incident, with researchers estimating that over $46 million had flowed out of its wallets. This comes days after Binance suffered a $6.3 billion hack on October 29th, which the FBI attributed to North Korean hackers. (Cointelegraph)
