After Bitcoin dropped from 126,000 last year, I tried to buy at 90,000, only to lose a lot of money. So I didn't buy again when it reached 60,000.
Later, gold surged, and I went long. But after it fell, I closed my long position and haven't dared to buy the dip since. I haven't touched it for a long time.
Silver and gold experienced wild swings at the same time. After going long, I also went short, but I bought options. I haven't touched that either. Looking back, my attempts to buy the dip were all at the halfway point of a decline after the peak. Any further upward movement seemed a long way off. Staying away was the right thing to do.
Regarding semiconductors, after the surge, I chose to buy the dip, and I still think I should have. However, looking at the candlestick charts, they're very similar to Bitcoin, gold, and silver – a high followed by a seemingly endless, gradual decline.
However, I still believe that semiconductors are different from gold, silver, and Bitcoin. Semiconductors are backed by high-quality companies and a rapidly growing AI industry. Bitcoin, gold, and silver are mostly just speculative plays.
But then again, many people might think that semiconductors are also speculative.
