Iran's Supreme Leader Authorizes Government to Conduct Peace Talks
Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that Iran will attempt to end its war with the United States through dialogue, and Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has granted the government certain powers related to peace negotiations.
In June of this year, Mojtaba approved an Iran-US memorandum and subsequent direct negotiations. Pezeshkian's reiteration of this authorization indicates that Iran still hopes to resolve the issue through negotiations.
Iran has proposed that if the United States meets certain conditions, the original seven-day plan could be shortened to two days, pushing for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the resumption of nuclear negotiations. Iran's demands include the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports and the easing of restrictions on Iranian oil exports.
Both sides are willing to negotiate, but the issue remains unresolved, with one side deciding who will make concessions first. The United States wants to discuss the Iranian nuclear issue from the outset, while Iran wants the blockade and sanctions lifted before resuming nuclear negotiations.
