[AI Giant Anthropic's Revenue Grows Rapidly, But Huge Losses and Expenses Expand Simultaneously]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Anthropic's revenue for the third quarter ending September 30th approached $17 billion, a 12-fold increase year-over-year. This performance is expected to further fuel market expectations for the AI company's IPO, potentially setting a record for its size.
According to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday, the Claude platform developer reported a net loss of $23.3 billion for the three months ending September, compared to a net loss of $12.1 billion in the same period last year. Operating expenses for the quarter rose to $17.5 billion, a 292% year-over-year increase.
The filing shows that Anthropic currently has $895 billion in contractual and other commitments, most of which are related to computing power and infrastructure. Approximately $448 billion is expected to occur by the end of 2030, with about $70 billion to be paid in the 12 months ending September 2027. Anthropic filed for an initial public offering (IPO) on October 26, planning to list before the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States. Sources familiar with the matter previously revealed that the company hopes to raise $86.2 billion or more in this IPO than SpaceX did.
