[North Korean Hackers Make Multiple Mistakes While Transferring Stolen Binance Funds: $5 Million in PROM Only Sold for $71, Two Accounts Frozen] According to Odaily Planet Daily, on-chain analyst Ai Yi's monitoring, the North Korean hackers suspected of attacking Binance made several operational errors during the transfer of stolen assets: First, they transferred various tokens worth approximately $3.5 million to the NEWT contract address; second, they failed to check the liquidity pool status, resulting in the sale of approximately $5 million worth of PROM tokens for only $71; third, they used MetaMask to pay gas fees, potentially leaving off-chain operation logs such as IP addresses; and fourth, they deposited approximately $250,000 into Gate. Gate has frozen two related accounts and stated it will assist with the subsequent investigation.
Related analysis suggests that the more diverse the stolen assets and the more complex the transaction processes and intermediaries involved, the easier it is for attackers to leave traces, potentially aiding Binance in tracing the flow of funds.
