Trump has previously stated he might deport Musk from the US, but now he says he could pardon him early if necessary.
With the US midterm elections tomorrow (November 3rd), Bloomberg reports that Trump stated in an interview that if the Democrats regain control of Congress after the election, he is willing to grant Musk and his close associates a "precautionary pardon" to prevent them from being investigated by Congress. One person on the list is Edward Coristine, the young engineer nicknamed "Big Balls" at the DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), who joined the DOGE at the age of 19 to participate in cutting government projects.
Before any investigation, he has already received the president's "protection" statement. However, the relationship between the two has never been straightforward. In June 2025, they publicly fell out. Musk criticized Trump's tax reform spending bill, saying that Trump would lose the election without him. Trump retaliated by cutting government subsidies and contracts for Musk's companies.
On July 1st, things got even worse. When a reporter asked if he would deport Musk, who was born in South Africa, Trump said he didn't know and would wait and see. He also called DOGE a monster that might turn around and eat Elon. Did you think the two had a complete falling out? Not at all.
In September of the same year, at Charlie Kirk's memorial service, the two sat and talked. In November, Musk appeared again at a dinner hosted by the White House for the Saudi Crown Prince. From falling out, threats, reconciliation, and sharing the stage… it's all come to this, now it's "I'll protect you."
What's even more interesting is the reason Trump gave: Biden.
In December 2024, Biden pardoned his son Hunter. On January 20, 2025, the day he left office, he again pardoned Fauci, Milley, and one-sixth of the members of the Congressional investigation committee. Trump's exact words were, "That's what Biden did; he pardoned everyone." A tactic he used to criticize his opponents years ago has now become his shield. Another detail is that there were rumors that the Democrats might push for the nationalization of SpaceX, which Trump directly refuted in an interview.
Tomorrow's election is not just about congressional seats; it also concerns whether Musk will be under Congressional scrutiny for the next two years. For the cryptocurrency community, a single word from Musk can send DOGE into a frenzy. If he is indeed dragged into congressional hearings, how will the sentiment react? We'll first focus on the outcome of the Congressional control decision tomorrow.
Do you think Musk needs this pardon?
