Three days after the incident, The New York Times reported the $6.3 billion theft from Binance. As what could be the largest single theft in history, many of you here have witnessed history, albeit as "victims." Now, with the exponential growth of AI capabilities, the amplification factor for attackers is equally terrifying. In other words, more and more system vulnerabilities are exposed to attackers' firepower. "No System is Absolutely Safe" We seem to have become a group of refugees, struggling to migrate from one painful place to another "seemingly safe" place, but seemingly never finding that "Promised Land" where we can find permanent peace. DeFi protocol theft, plugin wallet theft (weak randomness), second- and third-tier exchange theft, top DeFi protocol theft, hardware wallet theft, Tier 1 exchange theft. For example, when AAVE was affected, funds on the mainnet's ETH were inaccessible and were subsequently moved back to centralized exchanges (CEXs). When Bybit and Bitget were hacked, funds were moved to Binance, the most secure CEX on the blockchain. Finally, even the largest CEX was hacked (and the amount stolen was also the largest). If one day even private keys are no longer secure and can be broken by quantum computers, it seems there will be no safe haven for crypto users. At this point, shouldn't we return to the wisdom of our predecessors: Don't put all your eggs in one basket; Not your key, not your coin. https://cn.(nytimes.com)/technology/20261102/binance-hack-crypto-north-korea/
