Why haven't hackers been able to steal BTC from Satoshi Nakamoto's wallet? 1.1 million BTC, worth $84.78 billion, have been locked for 17 years. 1. There is no unified master key; it consists of 21,900 independent private keys. These coins are distributed across 22,000 addresses. 2. Satoshi Nakamoto used the earliest Bitcoin 0.1 client version. This version generated a completely new set of independent private keys for every 50 BTC mined. In other words, even if a hacker or AI manages to crack a key set, they can only obtain a maximum of 50 BTC. Spending so much time to steal only 50 Bitcoins is far less profitable than attacking DeFi or exchanges, where they could easily steal hundreds of millions or even billions of dollars. Which is more worthwhile is obvious.
