[Brazil's Virtual Asset Service Provider License Application Deadline Closes; Only About 40 Companies Submitted] According to Bitcoin News, the Brazilian Central Bank's deadline for Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to apply for continued operation in Brazil has now passed. Of the expected 150 to 200 cryptocurrency companies, only about 40 submitted applications to continue operating and pledged to comply with central bank regulations. Companies that submitted applications can continue operating during the central bank's review period; those that did not submit applications must orderly liquidate their businesses and exit the market within one month of the October 30th deadline. Starting November 6th, banks will block transactions related to unlicensed cryptocurrency companies, thus cutting off these companies' access to fiat currency services. While more companies may apply for operating licenses in Brazil in the future, the Brazilian Central Bank's review process can take up to two years.
