[Hong Kong Monetary Authority Warns of Two Fake "FPS" Websites Suspected of Inducing Users to Provide Bank Account Information] According to a notice issued by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) on October 30, the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) has discovered two fraudulent websites impersonating its official website: fpshktk.sbs and tknewfps.cc.
The notice states that these websites, under the guise of "buyer online security protection," falsely claim to offer services such as FPS transaction refunds, unauthorized transaction reporting, and online transaction support. They then induce users to provide bank names, bank account numbers, and account holder names, further directing users to contact fake customer service personnel.
HKICL emphasizes that these websites have no connection to its official business and typically do not directly provide FPS services to the public or proactively contact individual users. The HKMA reminds the public to be vigilant against suspicious websites and communications, avoid disclosing bank account and personal information, and report any suspected fraud to the police immediately.
