[Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, Suspends Stablecoin Introduction Project; Original Completion Date Scheduled for February 2027 May Be Delayed]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Gyeonggi Province in South Korea has suspended its research project on introducing a stablecoin, citing the need to consider the progress of related policies such as the Digital Asset Basic Law. The project, which reportedly started in early July this year, was originally scheduled to conduct its first phase of proof-of-concept (PoC) in August, followed by the second phase of expansion and testnet development from October to December. However, no substantial progress has been made to date.
However, a Gyeonggi Province official explained that the project has not been canceled. The suspension is primarily due to policy environment considerations, not a comprehensive budget cut. The original completion date of February 2027 will be affected, and the final completion time may be delayed. (NexBlock)
