I think Satoshi’s Bitcoin should be left alone.
I get the concern about quantum attacks. But we keep talking about permissionless money and getting rid of middlemen, yet we’re debating whether someone should be allowed to spend their own Bitcoin.
How does that make sense?
Whether Satoshi is alive or dead, those coins aren’t ours to control. Just because someone disappears doesn’t mean we get to make that decision for them. Even if the network agrees to freeze those coins, I still have a problem with it.
If we’re comfortable changing the rules to lock Satoshi out of their own Bitcoin, what makes you think we won’t eventually find an excuse to do it to someone else?
