[South Korea's Financial Services Commission to Convene Emergency Security Threat Response Meeting Next Week; Presidents of the Five Major Banks to Attend] Odaily Planet Daily reports that in light of the recent spate of hacker attacks, South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) will convene an emergency meeting on November 5th to address AI security threats in the financial industry. The meeting will be chaired by FSC Chairman Lee Eok-won, and will be attended by Financial Supervisory Service Director Lee Chan-jin, Financial Security Service Director Park Sang-won, and the presidents of the five major banks: KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank, Woori Bank, and NH Nonghyup Bank. The meeting will focus on reviewing the implementation of security enhancement measures following recent cyberattacks in the financial sector. It is understood that this meeting coincides with the expiration of the terms of the five major bank presidents' terms on December 31st. Each financial group has already initiated the succession selection process, and cybersecurity and internal control capabilities may become important variables in the year-end personnel arrangements of the five major banks.
