Binance just announced that withdrawals will be temporarily reopened this afternoon. However, the initial cause of this security incident is not yet fully understood, especially since many initially attributed it to EIP 7702. "Binance hack = EIP-7702's fault"? No. What can be verified on-chain is that Binance 14 signed an EIP-7702 delegation, handing over execution rights to a malicious contract. 7702 is an accelerator. It's not the root cause. The root cause is: how was the delegation signature obtained? There's still no public evidence. So don't conclude that "the upgrade broke." The upgrade simply allows a single authorization to do more. What needs monitoring is: whether hot wallet signature approval blocks "delegation-type" transactions.
