Wu learned that Intersect, the Cardano ecosystem governance organization, issued a security alert on October 30, urging staking pool operators to patch the critical Linux kernel vulnerability CVE-2026-98432 as soon as possible. CVE-2026-98432 has a CVSS 3.1 score of 9.8. This vulnerability affects multiple Linux distributions, including Ubuntu, and involves a memory safety issue in the IPv4 TCP connection processing. Under certain conditions, attackers could potentially execute code remotely without authentication. Intersect recommends that operators check the kernel versions of their block nodes and relay servers, and update and reboot them promptly after the corresponding distributions provide patches. As of the time of the announcement, some Linux distributions already have patched versions available, while the relevant patch for Ubuntu is still under development.
