Binance was hacked on October 29, 2026.
Tether froze about $1.57 billion in USDT, while Circle froze roughly $823 million in USDC.
Meanwhile, more than 500,000 ETH worth roughly $1.2 billion, remained in wallets controlled by the attacker, beyond stablecoin issuers’ power to freeze.
But the question still remains; If crypto is “decentralized,” should companies be able to freeze assets?
