[Senator Lummis Says CLARITY Act Could Have Bringed Binance Under Regulation] According to Jinse Finance, on October 31st, citing X platform news, US Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that in the debate surrounding the Binance hack, the "Clarity Act for Digital Asset Markets," which would have listed Binance as a "covered entity" as a digital asset service provider, with its preservation provisions retaining the effect of existing financial and sanctions laws, could have provided responders with better tools and faster action. Amanda Fischer, Policy Director at Better Markets, previously stated that the bill could not have prevented the theft and that asset freezing required a court order. Lummis responded, "Your party voted against it and must be held accountable." The bill has passed the House of Representatives, but failed to pass the Senate in a procedural vote on September 15th by a vote of 49 to 50 and is currently stalled.
