Circle expands CCTP support from USDC to various ERC-20 tokens. Circle will allow its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to support ERC-20 tokens other than USDC. Under this change, token issuers can issue new CCTP-compatible tokens or link existing ERC-20 tokens, enabling transfers across multiple blockchains. This transfer model destroys tokens on the source chain and mints an equal amount on the target chain. Circle has also released guidelines on how to implement this functionality on the Arc blockchain testnet.
