Two brothers in the US were sentenced to approximately 15 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping of over $8 million in cryptocurrency. According to a statement from the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Minnesota, brothers Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia from Texas were sentenced to 180 months and 186 months in prison, respectively, for armed robbery and kidnapping. On September 19, 2025, the two broke into a Minnesota home, tied up the victim and his family with cable ties, and held them at gunpoint for over nine hours, forcing the victim to transfer cryptocurrency. They also took the victim to their cabin in northern Minnesota to retrieve more cryptocurrency storage devices, ultimately forcing the victim to transfer over $8 million in cryptocurrency. The victims' son called the police, and the two fled but were later arrested near Houston, Texas. Both pleaded guilty in June of this year.
