Court documents show that on September 19, 2025, the two men traveled from Texas to Minnesota, broke into the victims' home at gunpoint, bound the family with cable ties, and held them at gunpoint for over nine hours, forcing them to hand over access to their cryptocurrency accounts. When they failed to obtain the expected amount, the two forced the victims to drive to the family's vacation home in northern Minnesota, retrieved more cryptocurrency storage devices, and transferred funds, ultimately forcing the victims to transfer over $8 million in cryptocurrency. After the victim's son called the police, the two fled the scene but were later identified and arrested by law enforcement near Houston, Texas. They pleaded guilty in June 2026 and were sentenced on October 29.
