I woke up to a devastating shock: Binance was hacked for approximately $5.9 billion, with about $3 billion currently frozen. I was momentarily stunned, thinking I'd misread it.
Why is crypto so easily hacked? What went wrong? I feel so helpless.
I never imagined Binance would be hacked. But it really was, and Binance deserves criticism. Security is the lifeblood of exchanges, and Binance, as a leader, can't afford to lose. When security is compromised, everyone's confidence plummets.
What's even more unexpected is that Ma Huateng, who hasn't talked about crypto in a long time, suddenly posted several tweets mocking CZ. I truly don't understand. Binance has always respected Ma Huateng, and there's no conflict of interest between them. Twitter even invested $500 million in Binance when it acquired it, and is now a long-time shareholder of SPCX. Instead of saying anything in support, they're just laughing at us?
I'm on CZ's side this time.
For me, I really hope Binance does well. With such a large amount stolen, not a single person in my group seems worried about their assets. This is the power of reputation, and only Binance can achieve this.
But reputation is not a shield. Hopefully, Binance can live up to this trust and thoroughly solidify its security measures.
Go Binance!
