Some people in the comments section misunderstood me. I wasn't saying this is good news. A major exchange being hacked will, in the long run, cause BTC to experience a risk discount; how could that be good news? What I meant was that, from the perspective of circulation and selling pressure, the situation isn't as pessimistic as everyone thinks. After Google and Intel released their earnings reports, one fell 13%, and the other dropped as much as 25% pre-market. Bitcoin, despite the double blow of the tech stock slump and the exchange hack, only fell by about 5%. Purely from a price level perspective, Bitcoin has simply returned to its mid-September position. Compared to gold and the Nasdaq during the same period, this is already considered strong: gold fell back to its July and August lows, while the Nasdaq fell below its low on September 16th, the day of the FOMC rate hike. Moreover, during this period, the crypto market first suffered from the negative impact of the Clarity bill failing to pass, and now it has the added burden of a major exchange being robbed of over $6 billion. If the market truly lacked any resilience, we would have already seen a massive sell-off starting with 6.
