To be honest, it's fortunate that the Binance hack occurred at the beginning of a bull market. If it had happened during a bear market, I can't imagine how badly it would have crashed.
I browsed the community today and found that people's sentiment is surprisingly optimistic; there's not the panic and despair I expected.
Especially for Bitcoin, despite such a major black swan event, it only dropped a few points, indicating that the funds available to buy are indeed substantial.
The Binance team's response was also timely, immediately promising full compensation, which at least stabilized everyone's emotions.
As for those online calling for Binance's collapse and taking the opportunity to criticize it, I think it's unnecessary.
With Binance's current strength, it can definitely weather this crisis. And since it has promised full compensation, the current $3 billion shortfall doesn't necessarily mean that it will actually have to pay that much. If more funds are frozen and recovered later, the losses could be reduced.
Ultimately, if Binance really has a major problem, it won't benefit the entire crypto community. We're all in the same boat; there's no need to hope for anyone to sink.
What I'm most looking forward to right now is the opening of the US stock market tonight, to see just how aggressive Wall Street's funds really are.
If Bitcoin can climb back above $80,000 tonight and hold, I'll be even more convinced that this golden opportunity has likely been largely exhausted.
After all, this drop has wiped out a lot of leverage; it's certainly painful in the short term, but it's also created room for a later rise.
After the US midterm elections in November, if market risk appetite continues to recover, I'm quite optimistic about the November rally.
Therefore, I'm not that pessimistic; in fact, I plan to treat this drop as an opportunity to buy spot in batches.
Of course, this is all predicated on the market stabilizing; don't rush into a full-scale buy. Finally, I hope Binance can weather this storm smoothly, and that other exchanges will quickly and thoroughly investigate their security vulnerabilities.
The worst thing in the crypto world is never a crash, but rather being right about the direction but losing everything due to leverage.
