Over the past week, the crypto market has faced multiple challenges, including security risks, divergence in institutional funding, and macroeconomic uncertainties. First and foremost, exchange security has become the biggest focus this week. On October 30, Binance disclosed a major security incident, which is initially estimated to involve approximately $6.3 billion in assets. Chainalysis has tracked at least $5.912 billion in stolen assets, some of which have been frozen by partner institutions, but the whereabouts of a large amount of assets remain unconfirmed. Secondly, BTC fell below the $80,000 mark. Security incidents triggered risk aversion in the market, with BTC once falling to about $76,573 and ETH also dropping to about $2,186, putting pressure on mainstream crypto assets. Third, institutional funds have become more differentiated. While the US spot BTC ETF saw significant inflows at one point this week, it subsequently experienced large net outflows; the ETH ETF, on the other hand, continued to face outflow pressures. In summary, the core issues in the market this week have shifted from simple price fluctuations to exchange security, trust in funds, and institutional risk appetite. Next week, we need to focus on the follow-up handling of the security incident, whether ETF funds will flow back in, and whether whales will continue to transfer assets.
