This morning I called a friend to ask if we should cut some losses on our positions. It wasn't that I was worried about a BTC price crash or Binance not compensating, but rather that if Binance didn't allow deposits and withdrawals for an extended period, it could trigger further panic.
After looking around today, I found that people's emotions were generally quite stable. The timely statements from @cz_binance, @heyibinance, @sisibinance, and other Binance employees in various places played a significant role.
I didn't see many posts urging withdrawals after hacking incidents, which is common. Remember when Bybit was hacked for 1.5 billion? Within 10 hours of reopening withdrawals, 350,000 transactions were processed, and a lot of people were saying "Don't build a dangerous wall!"
In 2019, when Binance lost 7,000 BTC, CZ immediately promised compensation, and they did, establishing the impression that Binance could afford to compensate.
If a hack of 6 billion BTC can reopen withdrawals on CEXs within 48 hours, with user assets unaffected, it would be quite helpful in restoring user confidence in keeping their assets on Binance.
But I really hope more details about the attack will be released so everyone can understand how the general accomplished this incredible thievery.
