[ai16z Co-founder: Pump.fun Contract Bytecode Publicly Accessible on Chain, Urges Project to Open Source] According to Jinse Finance, on October 30th, Shaw, co-founder of ai16z, tweeted that he believes smart contracts are on-chain bytecode, accessible through Solana RPC nodes, and can be accessed by anyone without signing any terms. He stated that he did not obtain the project's source code, that the generated code is entirely original, and that his reverse engineering was for public interest, not for profit. He will respond to Pump.fun's accusations and remove any content that may violate the terms.
He believes that placing funds in closed-source contracts is extremely risky, resulting in the theft of approximately $40 million in user funds over the past year. He emphasized that he complies with the law but insists that smart contracts should be publicly viewable. Ideally, Pump.fun would proactively open-source its contracts, as greater code review would improve security.
Previously, on October 29th, Pump.fun's parent company, Bracket Company Inc., issued a cease and desist letter to Shaw through the law firm Brown Rudnick.
