[Deepgram Acquires Voice AI Infrastructure Developer Daily; Pipecat Open Source Framework to Remain Open] According to TechCrunch, on October 30th, voice AI company Deepgram has acquired Daily, the developer of the open-source voice AI infrastructure framework Pipecat. The transaction amount was not disclosed, but both parties pledged to maintain Pipecat's open-source nature and vendor neutrality. Pipecat manages voice and video streams and integrates speech-to-text (STT), Large Language Model (LLM), and text-to-speech (TTS) to reduce latency in real-time interactions.
This acquisition will help Deepgram strengthen its real-time voice and video infrastructure and expand its business beyond voice AI models. Daily co-founder Kwindla Kramer will join Deepgram. Deepgram also announced the launch of the Real-Time Context Standard (RCS), an open protocol co-developed with the Pipecat team, to define the audio context, model instructions, and voice response specifications for voice AI agents.
