Binance Hack Quick Review:
1. In the long run, the industry's trust in a questionable institution will inevitably lead to questions: Is it safe to keep this money on an exchange? Where is it safe? Even self-management isn't safe. So how exactly should you safeguard your cryptocurrency? Especially now with AI, vulnerabilities are easier to exploit. Conversely, this also benefits AI and security companies, as they will definitely increase their investment in security.
2. The stolen $5-6 billion is roughly less than a year's profit for Binance. Binance has the ability to compensate, but it has certainly suffered a significant blow.
It's unclear whether this will lead to budget cuts (including layoffs) or whether they will list other coins to generate profits. Therefore, it will be even harder for altcoins to perform well. After all, the cost is ultimately borne by the investors.
3. In the short term, a sentiment low point is likely to occur. Although I'm not comfortable buying the dip now, and I think there might be a second dip after the initial shock, including the very poor external stock market environment, the bottom may not be far off.
The question is, where should we store our coins? Is buying a Bitcoin ETF a better option?
This remains a question to consider, especially for funds concerned about the security of cryptocurrency exchanges. Personally, I would also move a portion of my funds to traditional brokerages or other compliant custodians.
