Kim Jong-un strikes again!? Binance hack sends shockwaves through the industry!
At 4 AM on October 30th, Binance's hot wallet was hacked, resulting in a total outflow of $5.64 billion to $6.26 billion, affecting 9 blockchains. Currently, some stablecoins, including USDC, USDT, and WLFI, have been frozen by their issuers, amounting to approximately $2.54 billion. The attackers still possess approximately $3.3 billion worth of assets, including 18,270 BTC ($1.44 billion) and 467,000 ETH ($1.06 billion), which have not yet been fully liquidated.
Binance co-founder He Yi stated that user funds are safe, and Binance will bear all losses caused by the hack. Currently, the platform has temporarily suspended deposit and withdrawal services to allow the security team to conduct security checks, freeze relevant funds, and cooperate with law enforcement. He Yi stated that Binance will release a full post-incident report after the investigation is complete and reminded users to obtain the latest updates only through official Binance channels.
Tether has frozen more than 1.567 billion USDT in connection with a potential hack of the Binance exchange.
