[Stolen BTC Short-Term Selling Pressure Nearly Zero; Benson Sun Says ETH Is More Likely to Create Selling Pressure] According to Benson Sun's monitoring, Coinkarma founder Benson Sun stated that in Binance's recent theft, the company has confirmed freezing approximately $2.5 billion in assets, about half of the total stolen amount. The remaining assets are mainly Bitcoin and ETH. The stolen Bitcoin is worth over $1 billion, but Bitcoin lacks a deep mixing pool like Tornado Cash, and the relevant addresses will be flagged by exchanges and on-chain analytics companies, making it much more difficult to liquidate than ETH. Recalling cases such as the Bitfinex theft in 2016 where Bitcoin remained untouched for years, and the Coldcard theft of approximately 1800 Bitcoins in July of this year, with 90% still untouched by early September, Benson Sun stated that this theft is on a larger scale. Splitting addresses, mixing the Bitcoins, and then trading them at a discount through OTC may take years, resulting in almost zero short-term selling pressure. If Binance uses SAFU to compensate and replenish the Bitcoins, it may actually create buying pressure. In contrast, the large-scale conversion of ERC-20 tokens into ETH and then into Tornado Cash is more difficult to track, and the actual scale of the potential market selling pressure could be in the billions of dollars. Benson Sun believes that market confidence will be impacted, but the direct selling pressure on Bitcoin is not as large as imagined, and calls on the industry to pay attention to security measures such as hot wallet management, signature authorization, and quantum resistance in the post-AI era.
