Stan Cifka: Blockchain Games Must Reach at Least Web2 Quality
On October 14, 2026, Stan Cifka, founder of Showdown (@StanCifka), stated in an interview on The Good Wood Show (@the_mindfolk) that the only reason to adopt cryptography is to improve user experience. He believes blockchain games should at least reach Web2 game quality, and the era of attracting players solely through speculation, Web3 tags, or deployment on Solana is over. He argues that despite the poor reputation of cryptography among Web2 players, the reluctance of some venture capitalists to invest, and user skepticism due to past experiences with scams, better products will ultimately drive user acceptance.
He believes that twenty years from now, the question will be whether 50% or 99% of games use blockchain, and he considers the internet, artificial intelligence, and cryptography to be three major transformations experienced by this generation, all of which are changing the way society functions.
