[Senior US Military Planning Official Admits to Leaking Classified Information on Ukraine and Iran to Media] According to a report by Golden Finance on October 30, an internal investigation report obtained by Axios revealed that a top-ranking military planning official at the Pentagon admitted to leaking classified information about Ukraine and Iran to journalists from two different media outlets over a period of more than a year. US officials stated that Lieutenant General Brett Silvia was dismissed this week by Defense Secretary Hergsays for alleged misconduct. After failing four polygraph tests, he admitted to the actions via video. The report accuses him of "unauthorized disclosure of information to the media." The investigation report and US officials indicate that Silvia began leaking information as early as June 2025. Afterward, he continued to contact journalists through the encrypted messaging app Signal and met with them at a restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. The report states, "During the restaurant meeting, Silvia verbally provided information about US aid to Ukraine based on notes he had taken while reviewing a classified report."
