[SpaceX Acquires 418 Properties to Secure Residents' Waiver of Noise Lawsuit] According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 29th, SpaceX is building a power plant in South Haven, Mississippi, to supply electricity to the nearby Colossus data center, sparking noise lawsuits from residents. The company, through its subsidiary MZX Tech, is acquiring surrounding properties. Real estate agents are lobbying on its behalf, stating that SpaceX will acquire homes if owners agree not to participate in noise lawsuits against the power plant. The plan involves 418 homes, and 18 owners have already agreed to sell. The purchased homes will be used to house SpaceX employees. In the past two years, SpaceX has built three data centers in South Haven and neighboring Memphis, Tennessee. Three residents filed a lawsuit in June, alleging continuous noise, vibration, and other hazards from the data center construction. SpaceX denies the allegations, stating that it has adjusted power generation and built soundproof walls. The average home price in the area is approximately $180,000, and the total investment in Colossus is estimated at $40-50 billion. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says that dozens of temporary gas turbines, about the size of trucks, on the plant site did not have the permits required by federal law, and the Southern Environmental Law Center estimates that their toxic emissions cause about $44 million in health damage annually; the NAACP has filed a separate lawsuit under the Clean Air Act regarding the same turbine issue.
