It turns out there's a major event behind Druckenmiller's investment in Trade.xyz: ICE, the parent company of the NYSE, announced that Trade.xyz perpetual contracts, based on Hyperliquid, will be offered to retail clients through its joint venture with OKX, ICEOKX, with ICE acting as the "exclusive operator" in the new US market. This combination of ICE + Trade.xyz + OKX essentially pushes perpetual contracts from an "on-chain efficiency tool" to "regulated market infrastructure." OKX's role here is clear: user reach and trading technology. ICE exclusively operates the regulated market, Trade[XYZ] brings on-chain perpetual products, and OKX connects users and liquidity already accustomed to trading in crypto. Perpetual contracts are one of the most solid innovations in crypto, and this is a crucial step towards their implementation in the regulated US market, which is definitely a great thing for the crypto space.
