A collaboration between a traditional financial giant (ICE/NYSE parent company), a crypto exchange (OKX), and on-chain innovation (TradeXYZ/Hyperliquid ecosystem) to bring perpetual contracts to the regulated US market represents one of the most significant recent signals of "on-chain finance taking off."
Perpetual contracts are already the most mature and liquid derivative form in the crypto space. Now, combined with ICE's institutional-grade clearing and market infrastructure, OKX's global retail distribution capabilities, and TradeXYZ's experience with perpetual contracts for real-world assets (stocks, indices, commodities, forex, etc.) on Hyperliquid, there's a real opportunity to bring a "24/7, compliant, and easy-to-use" market to US retail users.
Previously, OKX (@okxchinese) and ICE had a joint venture (OKXICE). Including TradeXYZ completes the distribution, infrastructure, and on-chain product capabilities, forming a closed loop.
The significance lies not just in "another collaboration news," but in the fact that, under the regulatory framework, traditional market infrastructure is beginning to truly accept native crypto tools and on-chain settlement logic. If approved smoothly, it could drive the US market from a "limited, regulated perpetual" model to a more open, efficient, and 24/7 trading environment, while also providing the Hyperliquid ecosystem with broader compliance options.
Of course, the final outcome will depend on the progress of regulatory approval, the boundaries of leverage and product scope, and whether actual liquidity can materialize.
But the direction is clear: it's not just about building products, but about creating a new market structure within a regulated environment.
