[Bermuda Partners with WalletConnect to Advance On-Chain Economy Initiative; First Merchant Payment Scenario Expected in 2027] According to a report by CoinDesk on October 29th, the Bermuda government has selected WalletConnect to expand its local crypto payment applications. The first merchant to join will be the ticketing platform PTIX, with payment functionality expected to launch in the second quarter of 2027. As planned, users will be able to pay event organizers directly from their personal wallets, without PTIX needing to hold the funds in escrow. The Bermuda government hopes this will reduce local merchants' reliance on high-cost traditional payment services. In January of this year, the country announced its on-chain economy initiative with support from Circle and Coinbase, and has been continuously promoting USDC payments and merchant integration.
