Beginners, please don't gamble on US stock earnings reports!
Google's stock price plummeted by over 10% in after-hours trading after the earnings report was released, which is truly outrageous
Actually, Google's earnings report did have some bright spots: revenue grew by 25% year-over-year, and cloud business grew by over 100%. However, profits fell short of expectations, and the market still didn't respond favorably to the massive AI capital expenditures.
So, even for a tech giant like Google, betting on earnings reports can result in a 10% loss overnight.
However, I'm still quite optimistic about Google's long-term prospects.
Berkshire Hathaway, owned by Warren Buffett, started building its position in Google as early as the third quarter of 2025 and has continued to increase its holdings since. Based on publicly available holdings, the average cost is estimated to be around $300.
If you're already holding a loss, I don't think it's necessary to rush into selling just because of an earnings report. Google's search, cloud, and AI competitiveness remains strong, and its long-term logic is worth continuing to monitor.
As for those looking to buy the dip, don't rush to buy all at once. If the market continues to adjust, you can observe whether there are opportunities to gradually build your position.
