📉 Google Cloud revenue surged a record 103% YoY in Q3, yet GOOGL plunged nearly 10% after earnings. Why?
Despite strong cloud growth, Alphabet’s net profit fell 25% YoY, weighed down by investment losses. Heavy AI spending pushed free cash flow to −$9.1B, marking a second consecutive negative quarter.
In contrast, following the latest Q3 earnings and investor updates:
🟢 Microsoft (MSFT +4%): Azure grew 48%, while free cash flow remained positive at $18.6B.
🟢 Oracle (ORCL +11%): Despite negative FCF, shares rallied after management outlined a clearer path to positive cash flow by FY2028.
AI growth alone may no longer be enough. Investors also want clearer evidence of when massive AI investments will translate into cash returns.
