[Canadian Man Sentenced to 25 Months for Impersonating Customer Service to Steal $13 Million in BTC, Then Buys Lamborghini] According to a report by Golden Finance on October 29th, citing the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), 20-year-old Canadian man Trenton Johnston was sentenced to 25 months in prison on October 26th by the U.S. Federal Court in Miami for his involvement in cryptocurrency fraud and money laundering. Investigations revealed that Johnston, starting at age 17, impersonated customer service representatives from Google and cryptocurrency companies, tricking victims into handing over their wallet access credentials. One victim in California was defrauded of his life savings of 185 BTC, worth approximately $13 million at the time. He subsequently used the stolen money to purchase a Lamborghini, two BMWs, jewelry, and leased a private jet, even sharing his modus operandi on Discord. Johnston was arrested in March of this year in a Rolls-Royce, pleaded guilty, and surrendered stolen cryptocurrency assets worth approximately $3.8 million.
